The LORD said to Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft. And behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. And I have given to all able men ability, that they may make all that I have commanded you:

Artists are called and appointed by name, filled by the spirit of God and given with ability, intelligence, knowledge, craftsmanship to devise, to work, to make and it is the Lord's command.

Art needs to dialogue, made to dialogue with the spirit of God and connect people with God. When we dialogue with God, with man, it teaches us things we never thought about. The inquiry of mind, the innate need to pursue the mystery of God. The more creations, more dialogue, more ideas, more creativity and more creations. The creativity spirit needs to flow, to be unleashed.

It is not just "what is this about" or "what is the artist trying to tell me?" but rather the power of wonder and asking "what is this to me?". Art speaks in quietly loud voice with the most indirect message yet most direct confrontation. Art is attention grabbing, art plays with element of shock, art provokes, art dialogues. It doesn't just tell you everything you need to know but what your spirit wants you to know and you having this dialogue with your spirit. When God creates, He breathes His spirit into yours. He creates, His spirit of creativity is in you, you have the creativity.

Sometimes it is not just about the form, the shape, the medium, the function. Sometimes it is about the awe, the emotions, the experience of how "this" speaks to you. In return "this" becomes a message, a highly personalized message. And when His creation creates in His creativity, you can hear Him speaks to you because you have a spirit and creativity is something spiritual. We need creativity. We need aesthetic that is not self seeking, self gratifying, self satisfying, but Christ seeking, Christ gratifying and Christ satisfying.

Artists need to respond to the call for a renewed Renaissance. We need more Sistine Chapel, more Van Gogh, more artists to reconcile their works and faith. We need the community, the church to see the need for artistic expression.

Right here, right now, this generation.
